[Solved] [Episode III] A new calling

Droids scurried along hopelessly, carrying large loads of spice from one door to the next. Mayla stood in the centre of the compound, drawing the orange dust from a rock with her pickaxe. Her hands hot and sweaty. Her legs aching. She watched as worker after worker was dragged off by the wrist.

These soldiers had taken over the compound from a group of Pykes. Now they take random workers whilst they do their hard labour. The soldiers had stormed the compound three days ago and had, to Maylas dismay, begun selling the spice to a third party. Mayla on the other hand saw that these wardens had a secretive agenda. 

By watching the guard’s movement while she was working, she saw that the left most warden, a Warden male, would leave every so often. Not coincidentally but, everytime he had left another labourer was taken. Something was happening with these people, something bad. She had heard screams in the night, shadows moving past the yellow glass above doorways. She had to take a closer look.

The Enforcer moved into the next room, thumping a knife down on the table next. Mayla took her opportunity. She dropped her axe quietly and made a dash for the door, which hadn’t fully closed. Mayla managed to slide underneath the door as it shut, sealing herself in with the warden. He was wearing black armour, with yellow gloves and a beak shaped helmet. His face was bent down, distracted by a blue hologram.

“Yes sir-I will do sir.” He went, oblivious to the green skinned Twi’lek behind him

“The shipment is ready to go, just awaiting final approval.”

What shipment? She thought. The spice had been collected, sure, but only a small amount had been refined.

“The specimens have been relinquished of memory, and have been detained. Only a few of them have full sight.” He finished, sounding as if he were mocking someone.

He switched off the hologram with a buzz and began to turn around. Mayla thought fast, seeing the dagger above the fuel canister. She swiped it up and quickly drove it into his neck, killing him instantly

They both fell instantly. Zabrak was dead, but Mayla couldn’t believe she had killed someone. But what choice did she have, it’s not like he was innocent. She needed to find out where these people were.
