Stepping into the cold dank cave, Lyra could feel the presence of Master Aemos emitting like a candle behind a closed wooden door. She chose to wait outside the door, thinking it would be best to allow Aemos to finish whatever he was doing before entering. Instead, Lyra inspected a line of scriptures engraved across the walls. They were ornate, but corrupted by moss and dirt in the deepest crevasses, bandaging the cracks like a blindfold. She read what she could from them.

“Fight. Light. Sight. Fight. Light. Sight.” It repeated, the runes cold to the touch as she brushed against them.

A warm ray of sunlight shone down through the gaps of plants above, the thin leaves showing off their exoskeletons. From under her fingers she could feel the moss retreating back further into the rock, almost as if it despised light.

“Lyra?” Aemos asked, standing next to Lyra.

She hadn’t seen him enter as she was focused on the scriptures.

“Oh yes. Hello Master.” She replied, turning round and bowing.

Lyra had never bowed before, seeing it fit the situation at hand. After all this was a strange circumstance.

“Master Nokori had told me you wished to speak. I thought I’d wait out here until you were finished.” Lyra revealed, standing back up straight and adjusting her satchel strap.

Aemos took a long hard look at her, his dim brown eyes worrying Lyra as he thought.

Suddenly, after a moment he spoke.

“You have passed your lessons.” He revealed. “You must be proud of yourself, Initiate.”

Lyra turned away in surprise, shocked at how long she had spent training in the Enclave.

She turned back around, bowing again In thankfulness.

“I am Master. When can I complete the Trials?” Eyes widening in excitement.

Aemos chuckled in response.

“Eager.” He said, taking another look at her. “But you are too angry. Too focused on fighting.”

“What do you mean Master?”

“Master Jun-Wa has told me you have a talent for Combat. But Master Imani has told us you have no interest in Diplomacy teachings.” He countered, looking disappointed with Lyra.

“A Jedi must be an Impartial observer, only intervening in delicate situations. Never resort to fighting as a first resort.”

Lyra took those words heavily. Ever since she had been indoctrinated into the ISB, all she knew was to cause pain. Always taught the weak spots, treating fighting and combat almost as a sport. Now she had to throw this knowledge away? All of it gone?

“I understand Master.” She reassured him. “But I can do this.”

Aemos sighed, walking over to the scriptures written on the walls. He felt the stone and rubbed the moss off his fingertips.

“I have no doubt you can Lyra. But you must let go of your past and your anger.”

“My past?” She questioned, realising she hadn’t told him about her past.

He looked back, seeing where he slipped up.

“We know of your Past Lyra. Lieutenant Villo.” He revealed, turning fully around. “We did a background check on you before you arrived. Master Skywalker told me about the Holocron you opened on Ilum.”

“I am not that person anymore Master. I’ve changed.” She said back.

“Yes you have.” Aemos told her, stepping underneath the wall.

Water dripped from the plants above, trickling down his face and falling onto his green cloak.

“Do you know of the Jedi Code?“ he asked, catching a droplet mid air with the force.

Lyra watched as he suspended the droplet above in the air, moving it across the room to the opposite wall.

“Yes. I had to read it as Propaganda in the ISB.” Lyra retorted, still watching him with the drop.

“I think it was. There is no Emotion, there is Peace. There is no Ignorance, there is Knowledge. There is no passion, there is Serenity. There is no Death, there is The Force.”

Aemos stopped a metre from the wall, still moving the droplet into a crack of the wall. It flooded the crevice with a splash of water. Within a few seconds, the moss grew out of the cracks like a vine, moving in unison across the room.

“Almost. You forgot that there is no Chaos, there is Harmony.” He said, brushing his hand on the moss. “This moss was dying. I have saved it. Not everyone has a second chance Lyra, don’t forget.” Aemos said.

“But you have displayed examples of the Code, you have done well Lyra.”

Nice story Harrison. Aemos knows all! Was the Ilum build back in season one on EB? Can you share a link to it here?

The obelisk is really great. I wish you had time to do the ground, and maybe some more work overhead, to give it a cave-feel. 👍
