All free units were recalled to the Angel. The Angel was the newly built Star Destroyer which Orbited Atrisia. Corvo and Vanessa had not had enough time to listen to the Audio recording, having to instead pile into a transport shuttle.
The flight to the destroyer was a quite one. Many of the troopers were sleeping, fatigued and exhausted after 3 sleep deprived weeks. Corvo sat at the end of the row of chairs, facing the open door into the cockpit. He saw the ever growing shadow of he Grey triangle emerge from the white clouds, looming ominously.
When the shuttle eventually landed, the Destroyer immediately rose into upper orbit. Then into space.
“I heard we’re heading to Ru’an.” Corvo heard an Engineer gossip to the other whilst he strode down the exit ramp behind Vanessa.
She had taken her helmet off, showing off her dark brown ponytail in full view.
“We should find a surveillance panel, so we can hear this message.” She said, taking the Recording from Corvo’s hand.
But before they could reach the hallway leading out from the hanger, the ship jolted into Hyperspace. A blue blur shot past the Hanger cut out, flicking past like a roller coaster.
“Must be new orders.” She said, slipping the recording into her chest pocket.
“Ru’an has been invaded!”
Soldiers marched past in rows, clutching their E11s confidently. Tie fighters were loaded into cranes above Corvo’s head, and speeder bikes had began being loaded into Shuttles.
“Invaded?” Corvo said, startled. “By who?”
One of the Engineers heard him, peering up from a dislocated thruster to reply.
“Some demon things.” She replied, looking mortified. “They call them Scoath.”
With those final words, the ship jolted again. They had arrived above Ru’an, the planet below them.
It looked like a massacre. Starfighters rushed in every direction, weaving like a flag in the wind. Strange new ships flew past, spiked and deformed. Rebel freighters seemed to have joined the fight, turrets blasting the enemy starfighters before they could reach the newly arrived Angel.
“Scoath?” Vanessa repeated. “Never heard of them.” She ended, rushing over to the Hangerbay door, watching the carnage.
A Tie fighter zoomed out of the hanger above their heads, but clipped an antenna while trying to evade a Scoath. It erupted into a great fireball, bursting into an explosion. It ripped straight through a squadron of A-Wings, like a firework.
“Their being ripped apart out there!” Corvo yelled in disbelief.
Vanessa’s eyes glinted with the red flames burning outside, glowing her emerald green irises.
There was a moment of silence in the hanger, only the heavy breathing broke it.
“Over there!” Vanessa shouted out. “That must be their Captital ship!”
Out in the void floated a sharp pointed red freighter. It was split down the middle, similar to an Arquitens Cruiser. However, it was crimson red. A large cylindrical thruster bulged out of the back, looking as if it had been bolted on in a hurry. Red beams shot at the Star Destroyer, making the Angel rock backward. Sirens began to ring.
Within moments, more tie fighters rushed from the hanger. They swooshed out of the bay and past the Corellian freighter, tearing down at the Scoath Flagship. The squadron tore down with rapid speed, plummeting down through the incoming horde of Starfighters. The dive bomb resulted in a mass explosion rippling through the surrounding area.
“Their disabled.” Vanessa remarked approvingly.
The tie fighters looped back around the Angel, bringing the horde of Scoath starfighters with them. But they didn’t harm the Star Destroyer, too busy with the Ties.
“They don’t like us!”
As the fighters curved through the battlefield, another explosion erupted. The Scoath Flagship had imploded, a critical shot by the Angels turrets destroying the ship.
With the Explosion erupting, the Scoath fighters broke off of their chase. They retreated to what seemed like a large floating station.
Corvo still stood perplexed as to what he had just witnessed. He had seen no more than 3 Tie Fighters take down a Flagship without hesitation, when he could barely defend himself just 30 minutes before. “Incredible.” He thought, “risking their lives for the Empire.”. He was only a Comms officer, usually surveying Data and
Gathering intelligence. A position which seemed to progressively get boring and boring. Then he remembered the Audio File.
Another siren echoed. An officer behind the duo came running across the hanger bay, clutching her hat in her arm.
“The- Lieutenant will see- you now.” She stuttered out of breath.
They both looked at eachother. They couldn’t go directly to his father about the recording. They needed to find out what was on it, what the deal with the Beskar was about. Not to mention what why a death trooper had tried to assassinate them.
“He will meet you on the Bridge.” She said, turning on her heel. “We’re heading to Hoth.”
“Do we not need to continue the fight?” Vanessa asked, looking back to the carnage of orange flames
“The allied fleet will continue. We are needed elsewhere.”
…
I like the micro ship idea and storyline!
