Deep below the ruins on the surface, two figures made their way through ancient hallways. In some places, they seemed on the verge of collapse.
'These catacombs were an old monument of House Vizsla. It is one of the few places that was left untouched by the Empire after the Purge. After the devastation of Mandalore, much of our history was forgotten.'
Coming up to another room, Naruun stopped, and gestured to Hayk.
'In here.' Naruun led Hayk into a room with a large stone relief. On the relief was etched a mural of the Clan's history.
'Our Clan's history is stored in this room.'
Naruun walked over to a bookshelf on one side of the room, and grabbed something from a drawer on the top shelf. He knew exactly where to find what he was looking for.
'What's over in this box?' Hayk inquired.
'Those are old star-charts.' Naruun said, barely looking up from what he was doing.
'Yikes! Hand-drawn star-charts... I imagine those aren't very accurate. And... only in a Mandalorian archive would you find star-charts next to your explosives.'
'Ooh!' Naruun said with a sudden entusiasm. 'Those are still good; we should take those with us!'
Naruun was still poking around by the bookshelf. He grabbed a book off the shelf, and even with a helmet on, Hayk could see his mentor's respect for the book written on his face.
'These are the things we came for,' Naruun said, decidedly.
Naruun brought over his findings. He held out a data pad to Hayk, which Hayk accepted with curiosity. The data pad glowed red, and had many characters and symbols.
'Everything that is in these books is on that data pad. But we'll take this book with us, anyways. It is Tarre Vizsla's journal, and it does little good to anyone tucked away in a tomb like this.'
'Tarre Vizsla... I've heard you mention that name before...' Hayk's words trailed off, showing that he didn't know much more about the subject.
'Tarre Vizsla was a great ruler of our people, and is the only Mandalorian known to be inducted into the Jedi order. Short story, he created the Darksaber, the symbol of House Vizsla's authority. After his death, the weapon led to blood feuds amongst our people, passing from hand to hand as one after another killed for the right to wield the saber, even though it is said that this room was meant to be it's resting place. As well as a general history, and things from his time among the Jedi, this book, and the data pad, hold Tarre Vizsla's notes as to how he constructed the weapon. These notes have been guarded by my clan ever since Tarre Vizla's death. They cannot be left for some wandering thief to find, and they may prove useful.'
The two turned to walk the way they had come in, and Naruun gave a fond look around the room.
'We'll have to come back for the rest later...' then he added in a patronizing tone, '...and could you be a good foundling and grab the case of explosives?'
