[Flashback LTC] Escalation of Conflict

"The destruction of the DS1 battle station has marked a grim beginning to an escalating conflict. Though we mourn the dead we must not falter in the face of anarchy and terrorism. We must stay vigilant. Long live the Empire!"

Irivan paced towards the cone-shaped ISB Headquarters building. All around him officers hurried in a wild frenzy. As Irivan made his way towards his destination a familiar face appeared.

"Krilan!" he called out.

An officer holding a black briefcase abruptly stopped. He proceeded to look at him and then approach him. 

"It's been a while Irivan" said Krilan. 

"I thought you were stationed at Naval Intelligence Headquarters?" asked Irivan.

"Yes, but the recent Counter Insurgency Initiative has the sector fleets mobilized and on high alert. This means that the navy has to coordinate operations with the other Military branches. That's why I'm here" replied Krilan.

Irivan turned his head to look at the vast metallic landscape of durasteel and transparaglass. Great spires rose kilometers into the skies and swarms of repulsorcraft dashed between the buildings. 

"I see the war's getting worse" Irivan remarked.

Krilan simply nodded. 

"How are you doing anyway? I heard both your brothers were stationed on the Death Star. I'm sorry to hear"

An akward silence followed. Behind him he could hear the rythmic stepping of officers and the occasional commlink chatter from the stormtrooper guards. Krilan looked away towards the vast skyline of Coruscant. 

"I have to get going" said Krilan weakly. 

Irivan nodded farewell to him. He watched the man slowly walk away, his briefcase swaying slightly occasionally. Irivan sighed heavily then continued on his way towards Headquarters.
