Two Imperial Remnants, so similar in almost every way, had gone to war a few months ago over some treaty.
To the common man it seemed like war was unnecessary. Why should two common peoples fight? It wasn't even each other who started the whole thing.
At any rate, on the night before Life Day, one remnant began shouting across no man's land. Jeers at first, but then jovial remarks. There was some sort of agreement of a ceasefire made. If you believe the stories, then even some Life Day songs were sang by both sides.
The morn came, and one side was greeted in their trenches by the other, bearing gits and decorations.
A glimmer of humanity in all the chaos surrounding them.
A materialisation of hope in a violent battlefield.
