Listening In

Rumors abounded of an Imperial return to Castell, that cast-off Separatist world of the late Commerce Guild president Shu Mai. While the towering brutalist blocks of the Imperial occupation were still riddled with loyalist subjects and spies, the rough-shod factory districts and slums populated by the local Gossam were more receptive to New Republic overtures. 

"Yessir. The listening equipment is almost set up. Specialist Ezir is tuning it now."

The lance-sergeant snapped his communicator off and glanced up at the roof. The spindly electro-audio set perched there like a spiderwasp, a silent sentinel over the city.

Keying in the activation codes, Spc. Ezir stepped back and called down to the street.

"All set Sarge! Anything interesting gets said, sent, or subvocalized in those apartment blocks, we'll know about it."
