The Society’s sphere of influence is far-reaching but not omnipresent. On occasion, the armour protecting Society-backed worlds is breached. If these wounds are left unattended, they may fester and spread. A threat to one of us is a threat to all of us. One such wound recently developed in the border regions. Without provocation, a hostile power took a great interest in the worlds of Cantonica and Bonadan. Undercover Stygian operatives within the Corporate Sector Authority reported that foreign influence was pushing the governing body towards entities unfriendly to the Society. Our response was quick. The news cycle on Cantonica was manipulated to ensure the population was aware of what was going on behind the scenes: a foreign body was vying for control which would inevitably lead to a wave of crime and the raising of taxes.
Now that Cantonica was secured, it was time for the strip-mined planet of Bonadan to come under the pervue of the Society. In order to better inform the Inner Circle on strategy, an advance team belonging to a nearby remnant was sent to perform reconnaissance on the planet.
The first objective for the jetpack-equipped scout troopers was to obtain data on the air quality in some of the more toxic regions. All miners must wear protective gear as long term exposure to the open air could lead to contraction of the dreaded Bonadan Cough.
Build Notes: I've enjoyed building these vignettes lately. I find that working on a smaller scale allows for a more well rounded final product. I tried to pack a lot of different techniques into the DBG platform to make it look weathered and eroded by toxic waste. The black walkway slots into the terrain pretty firmly. I had the idea for the smokestacks early on and i'm happy with how they came out. I added a little bit of film grain to blend the effects better. Thanks for reading! If you have any thoughts, please drop a comment. : )

Nice little scene. I like the individual parts, but put together, it feels a bit like very separate elements stuck together. The ground is also a bit rough. I appreciate the technique work on the DBG block - I'm sure that'll come in handy 😉
Also the smoke effect is really good editing!

@darth-bjorn I appreciate the feedback Bjorn. Can definitely see how it might look disjointed and I'll think about that for next time. I must admit I rushed through the back half of the terrain when I knew it wouldn't be visible in the main shot 😅
