It was a fairly brisk morning, here at Yurk Hargin's Droid Repair, but the sun was high, and it seemed like the day would warm up once the sun rose over the valley. Hayk and Chirp walked outside to check for new parts.
'Myuh...' Hayk said, as he pointed to some scraps set against the side of the alley. From a tag on the side of one of the droids, it looked like some stuff had come in from the Utapau system -- some mangled pile of charred scrap and two B1 droids. Chirp beeped and whirred incoherently. 'Mruh hu yuh...' Hayk replied in a tone that suggested agreement. Hayk figured he could have the the battle droids fixed up and ready to go by lunchtime, but he wasn't quite sure what he should do with the other... whatever it was.
The Queenmother's daughter, or Lara, as Hayk had recently found out her name was, had come to Celanon on a brief trip to get away from Hapes for a few days. She also dropped off the promised beskar from their deal for the Chandrila summit.
'Mada!' Hayk said, gesturing towards the B1 droids, insinuating that his work was finished. Lara looked impressed with his handiwork, and Chirp beeped with excitement as Hayk powered the droids up. After a short indistinguishable conversation, the droids powered themselves down again for awhile to deal with the shock of being operational again. Just at this moment, a speeder pulled up in front of the neighbour's fruit stand, and parked it in front of the shop. It was being piloted by a lone stormtrooper.
The two waved and murmured greetings to each other, but rather than talking to Hayk, the stormtrooper seemed interested in looking at the droids. Somehow, without the use of actual words to aid him, the stormtrooper conveyed that his name was Phil, and he was looking to buy a droid, where Hayk conveyed that he wasn't sure about selling to a stormtrooper; he wanted all of his droids to end up in good homes, and from Hayk's previous experience, Imperials tended to mistreat droids, and throw them away like garbage when they were done. The stormtrooper managed to communicate that he was trying to buy the droid for his wife and daughter, and that it was meant to be a surprise for next Lifeday, and that she had always been fascinated by droids.
Hayk showed him the droids he had just finished working on, but could tell the father was looking for something a little more friendly.
Hayk brought forward a grey astromech droid, and even with the helmet on, Hayk could tell the stormtrooper, Phil, was pleased. The droid approached cautiously, and Phil greeted it warmly. The droid rocked back and forth and jittered with excitement. Phil held out some credits and handed them to Hayk, at which Hayk accepted, and gave the droid a reassuring nudge towards the stormtrooper. The pair went on their way, with Phil enthusiastically muttering his thanks.
Somehow, both managed to fit on the stormtrooper's speederbike, and they sped off. Leaving Hayk with that 'this-is-why-I-do-my-job' feeling.
I really like this build! Looks like an old set. Great miniscenes and props. The blocky hoverbike is great! Kudos for using old minifigs and old dark grey! 👍
Looks so much like a 90's set,
That speeder and old grey 🤩
Nailed it. Especially love the printed wall panels - that would almost be cheating in a regular entry, but fits perfectly here!
