Dawn of Prosperity swarmed with activity in the final moments before dropping from hyperspace into the Kuat system. Hatches sealed as turbolaser batteries and sensor blisters reported ready status.

Gunner's Mate Soggle watched out the firing port as the brilliant blues of hyperspace cut to inky black. The Duros had been in command of turbolaser blister Esk-Four since the Prosperity had commissioned. Unlike his last posting, a Pelta that had seen hard service in the Clone Wars and harder service in the Civil War, the MC85 still shone with polish and class.

He sighed. The same could not be said of his gun crew, unfortunately.

"Chanchi!" he barked at the Pantoran rushing down the passageway. "Get your flash hood up!"

The slight blue woman flushed purple and dragged the hood over her head.

"You know Chan," drawled the human technician manning the targeting feed, "if I die because you were late to your station, you're not getting the twenty creds I owe you."

His dry humor held a bite. While the Imperial-class star destroyer protecting the shipyards wasn't within range of the task force, that was luck as much as planning. Even a corvette could pluck the exposed weapons blister of the hull of the MC85, if it had a skilled crew.

Soggle turned to the astromech at the power feed dataport, noting a red light.

"Kayfour, get that feed stabilized. I don't want any hiccups when we close with that Star Destroyer."

The R3 unit whistled an affirmative, extending its scomplink.

Reassured, he watched the B-wings rush past the firing port, and waited for the battle to join.
