Tharious, one of the few remaining Guardians of the Whills, devoted his life to studying the force. After being freed from imperial custody on Jehda in 1BBY, he fled to Batuu and began teaching about the force there. With his help the fledgling group called the Followers of the Force began to grow, helping the community and spreading knowledge of the Force. As the years passed, Tharious began to get frustrated with the extent of his knowledge, there were no new books to read and his powers were reaching their limits. A new source of knowledge was needed if he and the rest of the Followers were to reach their full potential.
Asking around, Tharious heard rumors from a few elders about an ancient Jedi temple that had once been the site of pilgrimages before the Imperial occupation where they stamped out all who taught and used the force. The only thing he ever heard about its location was from an old lady who told him “My grandfather once went on pilgrimages to the far north, into the deep aspen groves”. After leaving care of his home to his good friend Webel, Tharious began his journey north, like the alleged pilgrimages of old. After flying a long while north, he parked his small ship in a forest meadow, and each day he walked in a different direction, hoping to find a path or waymarker that would lead him to the forgotten temple.
One morning, Tharious got out of his ship like usual, stretched, and ate his morning meal before preparing for his search. He sighed; it had been 27 rotations, and the sixth time he had moved his ship to a new area, and still there had been nothing but endless miles of overgrown forest. This time Tharious decided to head out southeast of his new location, following the banks of a small creek. For several hours of the early morning it was the same as usual, pale trees and overgrown grass, with the shadows gradually becoming shorter as the sun went higher into the sky. In about the fifth hour, Tharious spotted a glint of flat tan sandstone poking through the grass. As he got closer, it revealed itself as a crumbling path, and as Tharious excitedly followed it, it became wider and cleaner until finally, poking through the trees were tall walls and a dark entryway. He had found the Jedi Temple!
As the bright sandstone walls of the temple glistened in the sunlight, the dark tunnel called to Tharious, beckoning him to descend into the depths of the temple. Who knows what power and knowledge dwells there?
A lot to like here - I love the grass. Great textures all round!
