She stood at the viewport, staring out at the jagged rings of the planet below. Rock and ice circled endlessly in the void. The stars beyond were cold and distant, indifferent to her and everything around her. The vastness of it all made her feel small.
Here we go... first night on the job.
She sighed and turned away from the window. The station groaned behind her, the recycled air thick and stale, as if the filters had given up trying. The walls felt damp, sweating like the rest of them.
I wasn't exactly swimming in options. When you're down to nothing, you grab at anything.
She looked at herself in the mirror. Her black flight suit hung loosely around her waist, unzipped, with the top half tied off. The dirty tank top she wore was stained with oil and sweat. Her hair, braided into a messy ponytail, was already falling apart.
Her gaze lingered on the tattoo on her left arm—the Imperial crest. The ink was still sharp after years of service, a reminder of the life she’d left behind.
Ex-Imperial doesn’t mean much here, she thought. Just someone desperate enough to take whatever job I can get.
Just then, the door slid open, and Lt. Harrow stepped into the quarters. He was all too casual, a smirk playing on his lips. “You settling in okay, Julana? I hear the nights can be rough for new arrivals.”
She forced a smile, trying to keep her tone steady. “I’m managing, sir.”
He leaned against the sink, his eyes lingering a moment too long. “If you need any... guidance, I’d be happy to show you to the security wing.”
Great, just what I need.
“No, thank you, sir,” she replied, keeping her voice firm. “I can find my way.”
He chuckled, brushing it off. “Alright then, just remember, I’m around if you need anything.”
As he stepped back, she felt a shiver of relief mixed with unease. The night shift was already off to a questionable start.
Alright. One night at a time. Just get through it. Can’t screw this up. I need this job.

Finally I got around to use built-in lights, and it's definitely worth it. So much more atmosphere imo. Also loved playing around with the mirror reflection.
Below are more photos etc.
