67 audio recordings (21 of which came from on site), 41 holonet copies, 17 handwritten pieces, and 10 official primary sources. 135 invaluable pieces of Entrallan history, and Everen Tal Valen maintained every one of them. Even worn from another day rejecting useless hyper fuel efficiency tests back at the Konphal plant, she never failed to perform the required upkeep needed to ensure these sacred pieces a long, and hopefully extremely dull, shelf life in the basement of the sizable Tal Valen manor.

After carefully scrutinizing the climate-control monitors on each of the bookshelves, Everen browsed the immaculately sorted files until plucking a small one from a section dedicated to her Grandfather’s work.

“And so it ends. All my work, my sacrifices, my pain given to the Tal Valen name thrown away to satisfy the ambitions of my siblings…"

A brief pause filled the holo as Everen once again listened to her Grandfather’s story. It was a sad, thoughtful pause, one where the author considered his next words.

“But such is the fate of those of us left behind by the Heavy Works. Galentro does not stop for stragglers.”

The holo once again paused, but when the man’s voice returned, it did so with a noticeable spark of pride and even a bit of desperation.

“So this is why this message exists. To inspire future generations of Tal Valen outcasts to keep supporting the works of Entralla and her rise to Industrial prowess. To you I entrust what I can only hope will be a vast network of messages detailing the happenings of Entralla and surrounding space, with the hope that such a record can finally bring to us the glory we failed to gain on our own.”

“From the first of such messages, Argen Tal Valen.”

[holo ends]

After letting her Grandfather’s words sink in once again, Everen rose and returned the holo disc to its rightful spot on the wall. Her Grandfather had been a wise man shoved to the side by the intense familial conflicts associated with the Tal Valen name. Instead of letting it consume him, he chose to instead find a new way to win glory for himself, though it wouldn’t be earned until the collection he started reached a size that could be shown to the galaxy.

Everen didn’t know when that revelation would happen. Though her Grandfather had recorded the rise and fall of the Separatist Regime, and her Mother and Father had detailed the decline of the Imperial War Machine, Everen had yet to make any real contribution of her own. It seemed that in the Tal Valen name, pressure to succeed came even from those who had failed themselves.

Failure. The word still made her fume. She understood her Grandfather’s fury at his own siblings now more than ever. Despite her long hours working for Galentro’s Hyperfuel facility in Konphal, her brother had managed to win the favor of the Galentro Elite in order to earn himself the coveted position of manager of the Konphal plant. Another winner in the Tal Valen family, and another loser.

That was when her father had taken her down to this remote part of the manor around a week ago. That was when he explained what this place was and how he and Everen’s Mother had contributed to what had been a humble collection. It was the proudest she had seen her father in a while.

Now Everen herself would be expected to record and preserve the history of the mighty Galentro Heavy Works and its planetary host. Until recently, she hadn’t anything to record for herself. Until recently, she was working on recording the events of a New Republic despised by the leadership of the Heavy Works. But until recently, there hadn’t been a Star Dreadnought parked above Entrallan space, casting its shadow down on its new prize.

Everen selected a new, unused holo and steeled herself for what would be an excruciating event to record. But after staring at the holos control system for a good five minutes, she pushed the button and watched as her face materialized in front of her. Mirroring her movements as she began to speak.

[holo begins]

“Just under 16 hours ago, forces under the banner of the Pentastar Remnant began landing troops in the Konphal district just outside Nexus City.”

Like her Grandfather, she paused and gave thought to her next words.

“And I, not my brother, I picked up my weapon and went to fight for the glory of the Heavy Works against the unjust invasion…

That's a really cool and original interior. The floor could use some more detail - maybe a grill or something like that, but I LOVE the bookcase, and the tilted window!
