Captain Winchel Aurex stood on the bridge of his Star Destroyer, admiring the planet before him. He had been tasked by Emperor Ashlon with patrolling the space around Imynusoph for any New Republic or rival Imperial remnant intruders while their forces scoured the world for its resources.
And he was losing his mind.
Born into a Caridan noble military family, Aurex had been raised for war, and the one thing he detested was a lack of action. His service under Darth Vader as part of Death Squadron had seen him hunting Rebels in the asteroid fields of the Hoth system and battling Rebel cruisers as the second Death Star loomed ominously in the distance. Ever since Endor, the Indomitable and her crew had been resigned to providing security for a new claimant to Palpatine´s throne, the closest to a desk job that Aurex had ever been... and he hated every moment.
”Sir”, Lieutenant Odurn called out from his right, “Com-scan has detected several ships emerging from hyperspace in Quadrant Six, New Republic transponder signals.”
Aurex’s lips curled into a smirk. He adjusted his treasured golden epaulets, a family heirloom gifted to him by his father, and turned to his subordinate. “Weapons to full power. All hands to battle stations.”
