[LTC - J8 - Dorin - RM] Beacon

Far above the toxic and tumultuous gasses of the lower atmosphere, this active beacon orbits the planet of Dorin. Built to plans reused from the High Republic's ill-fated Starlight Beacon, it aids those traveling between Coruscant and Namadii along the Namadii Cooridoor and those arriving at Dorin from along the Celanon Spur. Both hyperspace lanes remain active trade routes, so the beacon serves an essential role as a communications hub and as a convenient place for ships, freighters and passenger liners alike, to make emergency stops. As it's predecessor was designed to support flagship starships like the Jedi Order's Ataraxia, this beacon likewise features an expansive docking bay, allowing travelers to stop, refuel, or receive medical attention without entering Dorin's toxic atmosphere.

The beacon is fitted with a diverse sensor array that can track weather patterns across Dorin's surface. This data can help Dorin's residents predict and brace against harsh storms and other extreme weather phenomena.

The population has varied significantly since its construction. At some points, the flux of diverse travelers has made it a busting cosmopolitan city, but its current population is just a fraction of what the beacon is designed to support. Those who do live there primarily maintain its essential data collection, communications, and emergency support functions.
