Ric took a deep breath before entering his shared compartment, although they had made it safely back to some semblance of Imperial space, the last few days had been harder for Ric to navigate than the whole trip there. The tension between Viah and himself had been too much, and he opted to go for a long walk, but now that he was back, an unfamiliar sensation of panic washed over him once more. He didn't know what to do, how to fix the situation.

"Oh it's you." Viah snapped at him as he entered, she had been really short with him ever since she had learned her husband had remarried, after she had been declared MIA. Ric had never considered a romantic connection, it wasn't just a liability to a death trooper, it was nonsensical. But despite his teachings, being alone with Viah for so long had made him care for her, he didn't want her to feel this way, but none of the tools he knew from dealing with stressed troopers on the battlefield worked.

He had tried connecting with her physically, but that had spiraled into an argument, so Ric weighed his words carefully, "Yeah, I think the walk helped clear my head" he lied, trying to ease the tension. "Ugh," Viah sighed, "you are so..." she shook her head in frustration, Ric didn't understand, what did he do now? "Stop trying to fix this! It's not your fault. If anything I'm to blame," She sobbed as her head dropped, "why did I have to run off to save the Empire..." her voice was trembling and frail. Ric didn't dare touch her, or even move, Viah looked up at him with tears in her eyes, "Come on! Hug me!" She demanded, Ric nodded and embraced Viah in his arms, it felt strangely good to support her, to feel her melt into his arms.
