An Urbanus-class light cruiser was not a common sight in the Imperial Navy. Even rarer, one of the Artifex subclass. When they did appear it was usually as escorts for larger battlecruisers and dreadnoughts in the core. Reign, however, had the distinction of serving as a flagship, leading a flotilla of destroyers and frigates in one of the Empire’s few remaining rapid response fleets.

The Artifex differed slightly but noticeably from the normal Urbanus class, with supercapital-grade turbolasers in twin turrets replacing the main turbolaser batteries and two of the centerline ion cannons. This, combined with a few smaller changes allowed the subclass to engage at longer range.

Additional Info
[The Urbanus is one of Fractalsponge's more recent designs, and I knew as soon as I saw it that I had to build it. Initial planning started as far back as last May, and building began in August. Due to college the majority of the work had to be done in December and January, with this build reaching completion by the early March. I learned a lot over the process, and major improvements were made over the last big ship that I built. Huge thanks to Drunknpirate for doing the majority of the editing work.

Frame with integrated stands (they were not well attached in previous builds). The frame held up quite well, but it will need to be improved upon for any long term display model.

An unused shot.]
