The Unicorn was a Rendili designed starship. Based upon the designs of the BT-7 and other similar starships, the Rendili Hyperworks sought to create a compact gunship meant for quick assaults and fast movement. Though they began with this intention, their designs fell short when they realized they could not have both speed and power, it required them to trade one for another. In the case of the Unicorn, a prototype, they chose power over speed.
The s-foils of the main wing were tipped with light laser cannons while the end of the wing featured a ball turret. The ball turret sat another crewmate who manually controlled the equipped ion cannon. In the case of the Iron Tide, the ball turret was manned by a modified astromech, one meant for battle. The ship's hyperspace navigation was handled by an astromech who sat behind the main pilot.
Meant for combat, the Unicorn fit perfectly in the hands of pirates. Coupled with fast support vehicles to provide cover, the heavy artillery of the Unicorn shone. The Iron Tide utilized its weaponry to bombard their enemies and disable larger craft, a great strike vehicle. Its crew consisted of veteran pilot Creed and two astromech droids, a trio deemed to make the best use of the ship’s capabilities.
