To think there was a place like this on Listehol. Dhagg could barely believe it.
The whole picture had come together for him over the past week. The Grey Pirate’s envoy had arrived in the night, the Rodian called Flet. The Lord’s right hand man.
But, for someone in such a high position, he loved slinking around. Dhagg remembered when Flet’s form appeared from the shadows, it had alarmed him and he pulled his blaster on the Rodian. He couldn’t blame himself, he was on guard duty for a reason.
Flet had later told himself and his captain, Ygore, that he would be in need of them, and that together, the trio would attend a meeting of representatives. Representatives of other pirate gangs.
It explained much, it explained why so many differing groups were gathering on Listehol. It explained why they were acting so brash, they thought they were here to establish an alliance that would give them a piece of the rock — a notion that saw many of their sparse “representatives” killed in their hotheadedness. It explained why that damned Dash’s ship had entered orbit and hung around Listehol for the past week.
And, it brought them here, to this well kept and well manicured interior. He was told that it was a base of Chyunki Sulkijek, and that explained its extravagance. It reminded him of his Lord’s tastes, the white walls and the pension for artistic decorations. He remembered that their two pirate gangs were like cousins, a result of the familial ties between Gerpho the Gray and Chyunki Sulkijek. Though, from his last meeting with the Gray Lord, it didn’t seem like he held much love for his cousin.
Thoughts of ill will turned Dhagg’s attention to the rest of the room’s occupants. He had never seen so many different groups of pirates in the same room, and he could tell that each group was annoyed at the other. If their hosts hadn’t taken their weapons, he knew the room would empty out quickly. Their sneers were not well hidden, and their distaste had definitely built up over the past few weeks of petty squabbles.
He could recognize a few of the well known ones. Dhagg was incredibly surprised to see Baron o’Darko himself in attendance, guarded by two goons, obviously a representative of his own group of pirates, the Dregs.
The large and fat Trandoshan could only be Sskar, he was the head of the most opulent casino in the Tantive system nearby. It was said his success was built on blood, and the fact that he was at this meeting of pirates confirmed it for Dhagg.
Of course, Dash the Daring was here. Alongside him was an older man, whispering in Dash’s ear.
There were also members of the Obsidian Blade, a marauding group of Mandalorians. They were trouble, weapons specialists with a pension for displaying their prowess.
He assumed the droids were representatives of the Circuit Circus. A coalition of rogue droids who have become prone to raiding, looking for scraps to better their systems.
He also observed what could only be members of Svolten’s Sorcerers. A gang whose ability to predict and destroy their opposition was almost mystical. A superstition that granted them their name.
His observations halted as the door that led to the balcony opened above them. Out stepped a sentient.
“Thank you all for joining us here today! I am Eesla and I stand here before you as a representative of the great Chyunki Sulkijek.
I’d like to welcome all who stand in this room to Listehol, and toast to a brighter future!”
It was a weird sentiment, no one had a drink to toast with.
“The great Chyunki believes that by banding together, we can multiply our strength! And I hope you’ll come to share this sentiment!
May one representative from each group step forward into the room below me. We have much to discuss.
The rest of you feel free to get comfortable, refreshments will be here soon. Try to stay amiable, we may be working closely with each other in the near future.”
The speaker smirked, a hint of smugness had tainted his last few words. Dhagg wasn’t looking forward to the next few hours, as he knew he and Ygore weren’t the Gray’s representative. That honor belonged to Flet.
