A Rising Syndicate

The Flame of Zhar is a crime syndicate, emerging from the ashes of the devastated mining world Burnin Konn. It relies on mining and shipping as fronts for illicit businesses like the production of counterfeit credits, money laundering, and spice smuggling.

At the helm stands the charismatic Lady Pria, an outsider with a shadowy past and an uncanny talent for winning loyalty to her cause. The syndicate’s namesake is the Flame of Zhar – a legendary Corusca gem long thought lost, but recently recovered.

Thriving in the fractured political landscape left after the fall of the Empire, the Flame advances through charity where it helps, bribery where it works, and violence where it becomes necessary.

Opportunities Abound

After spreading its influence in and around the Anoat sector, the Flame now expands its frontiers to contend for a place among the Five Families — the mightiest criminal organizations of the galactic underworld.
Working for the Flame means opportunities abound. Gangs and individuals can contribute as smugglers, bounty hunters, thieves, mercenaries — either as freelancers or by climbing the ranks within the syndicate.

Foundations

Pria Sungazer founded her syndicate in 5 ABY and chose Burnin Konn as its headquarters – a desolate mining world that had suffered heavily under Imperial rule. By bringing charity, stability, and purpose to the inhabitants, Pria quickly earned a reputation as a “Crime Samaritan” and made the Burnin Konn operation the cornerstone of her organization.

Conflict with Jiuffa the Hutt

From Burnin Konn onward, the Flame spread like wildfire across the underworld, making allies and enemies along the way. Never shying away from powerful rivals, Pria resisted the ambitions of Jiuffa the Hutt and secured a fragile alliance with the Pykes.

The Battle of Burnin Konn

The conflict with the rogue Hutt erupted when Jiuffa bribed the Pykes and sent his forces to destroy the Flame. With everything at stake, Pria rallied her allies to hold the line just long enough for her fixer, Borres Laredo, to turn the tide. Laredo eliminated Jiuffa on Nar Shaddaa — with Hutt Cartel approval that Pria had secured beforehand.

The Gyndine Crisis

When the conflict between the New Republic and the Imperial Remnant escalated on Gyndine, the Flame’s leadership quickly sided with the New Republic. With steady logistical and frontline support from the syndicate, the NR liberated the world. But the Flame did not act selflessly — in the final hours of the battle, the syndicate extracted a significant amount of hyperfuel from the contested sector capital.

Taking Cinder Station

Meanwhile, on Farstine, Flame Lieutenant Carm Syndor contested the pirate Drego for control of Cinder Station — a war relic and pirate haven in orbit. After winning over the Farstine lawmen and the shipster unions, Carm lured his rival into a trap and took his revenge. With Farstine under control, the Flame is one step closer to dominating the trade routes of the Trailing Sectors.

The Triellus Trade Route

The successful Coaxium heist on Gyndine enabled the second phase of the Flame’s expansion. With new resources and growing confidence, the syndicate now sets its sights on controlling the “southern” stretch of the Triellus Trade Route — the vital hyperlane running between Darkknell and Tatooine.

The Five Families

After operating in the shadows for some time, the Flame now steps into the open. More and more gangs and crews proudly wear the Flame sigil, making the syndicate’s presence felt across the galaxy. Recently, Lady Pria openly declared her ultimate ambition: to contend for a seat among the most powerful criminal organizations in the galaxy — the Five Families.

The Inner Circle

The Flame of Zhar is led by an inner circle of loyalists surrounding its charismatic leader, Lady Pria. The Lady of the Flame is careful with trust, but those who earn it are treated like family.

Crews and Followers of the Flame

The Flame is a “different type of syndicate.” Lady Pria leads by example, empowering her loyalists to take responsibility. Never cruel, always fair, and true to her word, she earned a reputation as a “Crime Samaritan” with a clear preference for the New Republic over the Imperial Remnant. Gangs and crews joining the syndicate are expected to uphold these standards — and in return, they can rely on her protection.

The Eternal Flame

Little is known about the origins of the Eternal Flame, but its influence continues to grow among the people of Burnin Konn and other worlds in the sector. In the aftermath of Operation Cinder, the church became a beacon of hope in a time of despair. Just as the smallest flame can illuminate the darkest corners, the Eternal Flame inspires hope where none was thought possible. The syndicate maintains a quiet, obscure alliance with the church, supporting its efforts to bring charity to the lost and the poor.

The Fleets of the Flame

The Flame of Zhar relies on a colorful collection of starships, ranging from aged commercial haulers and modified freighters to a handful of military‑grade, high‑performance starfighters of doubtful origin.

Being a secretive syndicate, the Flame cannot compete with the large political factions and their capital‑class vessels — but it can still make its presence felt. Operating with smaller crews and limited access to military‑grade parts, the mechanics and pilots of the Flame are forced to stay inventive, keeping their ships flying through improvisation, scavenging, and sheer determination. The result is a fleet that may look mismatched from the outside, but in practice is fast, flexible, and surprisingly dangerous.
