The second update to the Star Wars Factions RPG is ready to be rolled out. This update introduces eight new systems known from The Mandalorian, Jedi: Fallen Order, and other beloved Star Wars content. This update also introduces a few other rule changes, all described below.
NEW SYSTEMS ADDED TO THE MAP
With all the new Star Wars content coming out, we are introduced to many new worlds. We have chosen to make ten of these available as accessible systems, even though they are not on the interactive map yet.
Bogano (N3)
Bracca (P9)
On the Randon Run between Lantillies and Uyter
Cyrkon (T13)
On the Hollastin Run between Circumtore and Syvris
Daro (N6)
Eiram (I19)
Kaller (K5)
On the Braxant Run between Scipio and Fedje
Nevarro (J19)
Queluhan Nebula (H12)
Shu-Torun (J7)
Zeffo (M3)
REMOVAL OF AFFILIATE REGIONS
In the wake of the conclusion of Episode III, Affiliate Regions will be removed (!!!). This means that accessibility throughout the galaxy map depends on system and grid control.
Accessing the Galaxy
Accessibility across the map depends on the Systems and Grids controlled by your Faction. Generally.
There are three ways to access different parts of the galaxy: System Control, Grid Control, and Hyperspace Routes. (Accessibility may be affected by blockades, see below).
System Presence (10 IP): If your Faction has at least 10 IP on a System, you may continue to build and gain IP on that System. Example, if you gain 10+ IP on Tatooine during an Episode or other contest and your faction would not have access to that System otherwise, you may continue to build on Tatooine. However, you may not gain IP on Geonosis or any other System in R-16 until you have controlled Tatooine.
System Control (50 IP): If you control a System, you may build on any System in the same Grid as the controlled system.
Grid Control (50-150 IP): If you control a Grid, you may also build in all 8 adjacent Grids. Example: If you control O7, you may also build in N6, N7, N8, O6, O8, P6, P7, and P8.
NEW WAYS OF EARNING VICTORY POINTS
Until now, earning Victory Points (VP) has depended on a Faction earning influence on systems hiding VP. The introduction of this new rule, will enable Factions to earn VP, by building within their territories, rather than constant expansion.
Grid Control VP Reward
The faction that first controls, and reaches 150IP in a grid, earns 1 VP.
- The VP may be placed on any system in that grid where the faction has +50IP.
- The Grid Control VP Reward can only be claimed once per Grid. The VP remains on the chosen system for the rest of the game season.
- In Grids with less than 3 systems, a Faction must control all systems in the Grid and earn 150 IP within the Grid to receive the reward.
- The Grid Control VP Reward will be applied retroactively to already controlled grids.
Intentions:
The purpose is to motivate Grid Control, giving Factions another rewarding self-competitive goal to accomplish. The Grid Control VP Reward provides a guaranteed way to get VP and the satisfaction that comes with it. Factions are rewarded for investing in their own territory. Furthermore, it expands gameplay, providing value to taking planets that otherwise provided no incentive to build on them.
OTHER IMPORTANT CHANGES
Grid Presence
Previously a Faction needed only to earn 75IP in a Grid, in order to explore Assets and Victory Points on any system within that grid (!!!). This rule is changing, and merged with regular Grid Control. See below.
Grid Control (50-150 IP): Controlling three or more Systems in a Grid, grants the Faction control of the entire Grid. If more than one Faction controls 3 or more Systems in a Grid, control is decided by who controls most systems by majority. If there is a tie, the Faction that controlled it most recently retains control until another Faction gains system control majority. Once a Faction has control of a Grid, all Assets and Victory Points within that grid are revealed to the controlling faction.
Lot’s of new planets to explore. Now go be the first one to see them all!
