Calculated Welcome

The B-wing’s thrusters exhaled one last plume of steam as they cooled under Yag’dhul’s heavy atmosphere. After adjusting his mask and checking the seal on his flight suit, Torin Val lowered the controls and opened the canopy of his cockpit. Even through his visor, he could almost feel the lethal breath of the planet’s unbreathable volcanic air. It was not yet the period of spatial vacuum, so he could still survive outside for a while.

He had landed on a small platform outside Dodecapolis, the hermetic capital of the Givin. As he swung his legs over the edge of the cockpit, a Duros mechanic was already uncoiling a cable to recharge the ship’s systems. New Republic scout troopers, clad in pressurized armor, stood guard around the starfighter. The planet was, after all, under the control of the Bacta Cartel, and an attack was always a possibility.

Near the platform, a Givin was conversing with his protocol droid, the latter displaying a hologram of the planet. The native took a step forward, clasping his hands in a precise greeting. His ivory exoskeleton was reflecting the artificial glow of the landing beacons. His deep, hollow eye sockets seemed to scrutinize beyond the visible, weighing the exact presence of the newcomer upon their soil.

"Pilot of the 3rd Fleet of the New Republic, welcome to Yag’dhul. I am Drav’kolis Fyshar, representative of the Corps Calculus. I have calculated that the probability of your mission being to support the war effort against the Bacta Cartel is 97.8%."

Torin allowed himself a slight smile as he jumped down from his ship. The Givin and their relentless logic. He nodded, adjusting his harness.

"Your precision is impressive, but there’s always that small margin of uncertainty, isn’t there ?"

The Givin tilted his head slightly. "A rounded result remains verifiable. But come, we shall discuss in conditions more suitable for biological beings."

Torin followed him. This world was a crucial crossroads for interstellar navigation, and he knew that behind every equation etched into the walls of their cities, a silent battle was being waged for control of the galaxy’s hyperlanes. It was vital for the New Republic to reclaim dominion over the routes passing through Yag’dhul.

A perfect B-Wing in an exciting environment. The ship is really huge if built so accurately. No wonder, these are heavy starfighters.

I'm looking forward to see the fighter in flight mode in your next entries 😊 . Promising story and interesting character, that Torin Val.

The Givin is characeterised, acted and built great as well 👍
