Chardaan, Orbital Shipyards

Back from shore leave and eager to return to duty, Ghost Squadron found little time to settle in. Across the galaxy, New Republic forces continued to contend with threats both known and emerging. Red Moons remained locked in battle with the Ashlon Remnant while rumors persisted involving the Protectorate of Kalarba. In response, the New Republic had begun investing heavily in a Fleet Development Initiative aimed at preparing for the challenges ahead.
Few worlds benefited more from the initiative than Chardaan. Long known for its starfighter production, the ocean world's shipyards had increased operations around the clock as engineers raced to develop the next generation of New Republic fighters. Arriving at one of the orbital platforms overlooking the endless sea below, Ghost Squadron was greeted by a salty breeze and crashing waves. Their assignment was simple: put the newest A-Wing prototypes through their paces and determine whether they were ready for fleet service.

"Welcome, Ghost Squadron. We have your new wings ready for you," said the lead Mon Cala engineer. "These prototypes feature upgraded Novaldex thrusters, improved maneuvering jets, and a fifteen percent increase in acceleration over the standard RZ-1. If the trials go well, they'll begin entering fleet service within the year."
"Fifteen percent? Sounds like you're trying to get us killed."
The engineer laughed.
"Only if you fly them the way the reports say you do."
"Then we'll make sure to leave you plenty of data to review," replied the Togruta pilot.
As the group continued discussing the new starfighters, Axton paused.
"One more thing," he said. "We heard about the engineer working on the A-wing replacement program that was killed last month. Any word on what happened?"
The Mon Cala's expression darkened slightly.
"Local authorities are still investigating. Most of us didn't know him personally. Management told us to stay alert and report anything unusual, but nothing's come of it."
"Understood", Axton nodded.
With business concluded, Ghost Squadron turned their attention back to the waiting prototypes. If the engineers were right, the next generation of New Republic starfighters was about to take its first step toward the front lines.
This build was heavily inspired by @Montivalbricks's build and was a lot of fun to put together. I'm hoping it motivates me to finally build a new A-wing for the fleet.
