Imperial graft was and is rampant throughout the galaxy. Sometimes that involved strip-mining worlds, sometimes resources were jealously guarded by those Moffs who saw the influenced gained by having the right resources at the right time.
With the Empire destroyed, markets have opened up and those willing to tread into dangerous territory can find use of those materials.

The walker reminds me of that AT-TE set from rebels and I love the height you gave it with the antennae. As for the terrain, I dig the cave and the surface, but the random spikes of black and brown into the snow in cross section aren't really doing it for me.
Underrated here is the presentation of the build. I absolutely love how you captured the feeling of emptiness with that first shot.
