Dasha Defano gazed out over the seawall, a flute of Hapan goldwine in her hand. Shield Squadron had been given leave, along with several other squadrons, and her homeworld was only a short hop from the fighter base at Yag'duhl. For the first time since leaving home, Dasha drank in the sea air. Blue water crashed on blue sands below, depositing new land here, eroding the old there.
Despite the warm homecoming she'd faced, Dasha was unsettled. Mass leave often meant a major operation was in the works - or at least it had during the war. Now, peace provided it's own challenges. Was this the prelude to a bloody campaign? Or the freedom that came with a diminished Empire and quiet starlanes?
