CALLSIGN: Dogs-of-War

Kestrel-Class Heavy Starfighter

The Kestrel-class Heavy Assault Starfighter entered ARGO Industries’ growing security network in limited numbers, but with immediate impact. A small cadre of veteran pilots—former Crimson Aces and late-war Rebel recruits from the closing stages of the Galactic Civil War—brought their aircraft into ARGO service as part of an independent contractor arrangement. Hardened by years of near-constant combat, the group had earned the informal nickname “Dogs-of-War” for their relentless pursuit tactics and refusal to disengage once a target was marked. Flying their well-worn Kestrels, they quickly proved why the design had gained a reputation among frontline pilots: fast enough to dictate engagements, durable enough to survive sustained exchanges, and versatile enough to adapt to almost any combat role. Within ARGO’s expanding anti-piracy operations, they became a feared spearhead unit—trusted for missions where failure was not an option and hesitation meant loss.

Formidable Starfighter

The Kestrel-class Heavy Assault Starfighter was a versatile multi-role combat craft that combined the durability and firepower of a heavy fighter with strong agility for its size. Operated by a two-person crew, the pilot handled flight and attack runs while a dedicated gunner controlled the weapon systems. Though slower than dedicated interceptors, the Kestrel excelled in escort, patrol, strike missions, and dogfights, earning a reputation as a dependable heavy starfighter capable of delivering sustained firepower in almost any engagement.

Another starfighter from the inspiration backlog. It was fun doing functional wings allowing for multiple configurations. I'm also pretty happy with the cockpit, based on an older canopy, but shaped with plates and tiles to have a more SW expression. See below for more photos and inspiration.
