[LTC - P15 - Kyrska - PK] Red Creek Hydroponics

The investigation was getting nowhere. Officers Tayt and Dawson, of the Red Creek Municipal Police Department, had spent the past two days following rumors that pirates were hiding out somewhere on the outskirts of the city. It was a ridiculous idea, the Protectorate may have been invaded by pirates a few weeks prior but there was nothing worth stealing on Kyrska.

“We’ve searched this whole building; if there ever were any pirates, they’re long gone,” Tayt remarked.

“Oh they was here all right,” said Mina Starseer, the one who had summoned the officers to the hydroponics facility. “Jeb says two of ‘em runned in while he was leaving for the night. He grabbed his rifle and took off after ‘em, but he couldn’t find 'em so he called me and I called you. Course we didn’t think you’d take so long to get here.”

“We’ve been busy,” Dawson said. It was true, at least partially. Mina was the fifth person to report pirates, but the other searches hadn’t actually taken much time. The officers had just wanted a break before taking on another pointless endeavor, and the paperwork that came with it.

“I see,” said Mina.

“I think we’ll have to call it here, sensors are still reading negative,” Tayt said.

“And what? Just let the pirates run free?” Mina protested.

Dawson shook his head. “Look ma’am, as far as we can tell there are no pirates. Maybe Jeb saw them, maybe he didn’t, but they aren’t here now. If you still don’t feel safe you can take it up with the Protectorate.”
