KDY Regional Headquarters, Gyndine
Sublevel 3
“There you are!” exclaimed KDY security captain Caspian Voldt. “We’ve been looking for you, Sergeant.”
“I don’t suppose the New Republic destroyers overhead have anything to do with that,” Sergeant Jorj Minno remarked.
An MC80B flanked by two MC75s drifted above the KDY planetside facility on Gyndine. It would be an imposing sight, were it not for the Allegiance-class destroyer escorting them, emblazoned with the Kuat Drive Yards logo. Governor Essada’s forces may have been routed, but KDY ran their own security.
“Unfortunately they do,” replied Voldt. “They're sending troops to inspect the facility, you need to be gone before they arrive.”
“Gone? Gone where? Gyndine is my home, I have nowhere else to go.”
“I don’t know; Seswenna, Hevvrol, maybe Juras, but you can’t stay here. The New Republic won’t dare mess with our personnel, they can’t risk agitating the Core, but you’re one of Essada’s men, and last I heard he was to be hanged in the streets.”
“What about Ainya? I can’t just leave her here.”
“She won’t be here, her project is being transferred to a different facility.”
“Why didn’t she say anything?”
“She didn’t know until this morning, nobody did.” Voldt glanced around, then added, “I shouldn’t even be telling you this, but I thought you’d want to know.”
“Where is she going?” Minno asked.
Voldt sighed, then responded, “That information is classified.”
“She’s my wife, Jorj! Tell me where!” Minno demanded.
“I wish I could tell you, I really do, but I don’t know. They never tell me these things!” Voldt glanced around again and lowered his voice before continuing, “It would have to be somewhere outside the core, away from the New Republic, beyond that I can only guess. It may be difficult to find her again, but you certainly won’t be able to do so if the New Republic catches you here, so please leave.”

New Republic shock troops inspect the facility, searching for Imperial forces and documenting new projects.
